Wavelets
Here are several links to various sites for papers and tutorials on
wavelets and their applications.
Wim Swelden's webpage This page contains a number of
papers on wavelets by the creator of the "lifting" method.
His papers on that method are highly recommended.
Michael Unser's webpage This page contains a number of
papers on wavelets by a major contributor to biomedical
     and image processing applications.
David Donoho's webpage This page contains a number of
papers on wavelets by one of the creators of the "wavelet shrinkage"
signal denoising method. His papers on that method are highly
recommended. His latest work is on generalizations of wavelets,
     such as "ridgelets" and "curvelets."

Richard Baraniuk's webpage This page contains a number of
papers on wavelets by one of the creators of the "Hidden Markov
Tree" signal denoising method. His papers on this method are
     highly recommended.
Victor Wickerhauser's webpage This page contains a number of
papers on wavelets by the creator of the "best basis" method of
signal approximation. His papers on acoustic compression are highly
     recommended.
Eero Simoncelli's webpage This page contains a number of
papers on wavelets in image processing. He is one of the creators
of the method of "steerable wavelets", which are very useful in
     image processing.
Wavelet Digest A free, electronic newsletter with the latest information
on wavelets. The best source for the latest developments in the field.

Rice University DSP group This page contains many excellent papers,
software, and various links, on wavelets and signal processing, and
     on signal processing in general.
Other links A variety of links to wavelet info (part of the Wavelet Digest site).
Image Processing

Sheila Hemami's webpage This page contains a number of
papers on wavelets in image processing. Lots of interesting
papers on relation between wavelets and human visual system,
video coding, error correcting in image transmission, etc.

Eero Simoncelli's webpage This page contains a number of
papers on wavelets in image processing. He is one of the creators
of the method of "steerable wavelets", which are very useful in
     image processing.
Field Lab webpage This page contains a number of papers on the
human visual system and image processing. Many valuable links.

processing, including new methods of image compression, and image
     enhancement.

IEEE Image Processing This page is maintained by the IEEE Journal for
image processing, one of the top (if not the top) journals in the field.

SPIE This page is maintained by the SPIE organization, a top professional
organization in the field of image processing.

Cognitive Science

Donald Hoffman's webpage This page contains a number of illustrations
of our human visual pcrocessing. Dr. Hoffman is the author of the
     excellent book Visual Intelligence.

Stephen Grossberg's webpage This page contains some excellent papers
on the human visual system, and neural network modeling of attention
     and its relation to consciousness.

relating to metaphors and artificial intelligence.

Mathematical Learning

Hung-Hsi Wu's webpage This page contains many excellent papers on the
mathematical reform (from one of its most cogent critics), and other
thoughtful papers on mathematical learning. Highly recommended.

mathematical learning theory and critiques of the NCTM reform efforts.

"Applications and Misapplications of Cog. Psychol. to Math. Ed." A first-rate
paper exposing the poverty of ideas in much of the current mathematics
education reform. Available for free downloading. If you are concerned
about the direction of the reform movement, then please read this paper.
